Weil opened its London office in 1996, and it is now the largest in the firm's European network and the hub of that practice. Its reputation rests on two things: restructuring, where the directories rate it among the market's leading teams and Legal 500 ranks it Tier 1, and private equity, where Legal 500 ranks it Tier 1 for high-value deals above £500m. The office also holds a top acquisition-finance ranking and acts for European, US and global private equity houses, corporates and financial institutions.
Culture & Values
Weil recruits up to 15 trainees a year into four six-month seats, with one corporate and one finance seat required and the rest often in private equity, the office's largest department. Trainees are given real responsibility early: project management on private equity deals, direct client contact in restructuring, and finance work that builds towards running matters by the end of a seat. The office, based in Moorgate, has a reputation as friendly and supportive.
